workntravel was founded in 2022 by Helen Holgersson, who spent several years working in the hotel industry in Latvia. After returning to Sweden, she quickly noticed a significant challenge: there was a shortage of skilled workers, particularly chefs, in the hospitality sector.

During her time in Latvia, Helen had met countless talented individuals eager to work abroad, and she realized there was an untapped opportunity. The idea sparked — why not connect these skilled workers with Swedish employers in need?

Helen saw that working in Sweden was not just about earning money; it was a chance to explore a new country, immerse in another culture, and create unforgettable memories. This vision led to the founding of workntravel — a platform where adventurous jobseekers can find exciting opportunities, and Swedish employers can connect.

"I realized there was a clear need for a platform where employers can turn to with vacancies, and where adventurous jobseekers could register their interest. Then and there the idea for workntravel was born.

workntravel: Empowering Latvia’s Future Through Education

At workntravel, we’re proud to have helped many talented individuals mostly from Latvia find meaningful work opportunities in Sweden, whether for short- or longer-term. While Latvia, one of Europe’s less affluent nations, has seen impressive growth in recent years, it still faces challenges—especially when it comes to empowering its younger generation. For Latvia to continue its upward trajectory, it’s vital that more young people are given the chance to complete their education.

That’s where we come in. We believe in supporting the potential of youth, which is why we’ve partnered with a Swedish foundation to make a tangible difference. Through this collaboration, we proudly support the Livslust Study Support Program, which aims to give young Latvians from less fortunate backgrounds the chance to continue their education after ninth grade. Each academic year, we fund two promising students, helping them pursue vocational training rather than being forced to leave school early to support their families financially.

Livslust is a trusted, independent organization that has been providing tailored educational support and coaching in Latvia since 1994. With their expertise, we’re confident that these students will have the guidance they need to thrive.

Our vision doesn’t stop here—we hope to expand partnerships and, in the years, to come, offer even more opportunities for young people to succeed.
